It’s a new one-stop online shop for flood risk information. This National Flood Risk Portal has been prepared by Geoscience Australia and will be further developed over the next 4 years. This facility will be an invaluable online tool for Investors providing detailed information about Flood Risk for areas we are all looking to invest in.

There are detailed maps, online warnings and information to help mitigate Australia’s perpetual flood exposure. The portal uses satellite imagery to map floods and will also be supported by national guidelines to assist holders of flood risk information to make their flood studies and maps visible.
Easy access to flood risk information will give investors, insurers, communities and planners a better understanding of their exposure to floods. This information will assist consumers to make informed decisions about areas and the implications for insurances. Insurers are now far more prepared with highly accurate and detailed Flood Mapping data and we have now seen “Flood” Cover released in almost ALL States.
The best form of Risk Management and Insurance is prevention. You may be surprised at the exposure that underlies many areas in Australia!
