Since March 2015 when Cat5 cyclone Pam destroyed much of Vanuatu, it has become my mission in life to help rebuild schools so that the kids can get back to normality.
This is where I need your help.
Manua Centre Primary School is on the north of Efate, about 1 hour out of Port Vila. Schools at the north of the island miss out on much of the support and assistance that the capital city receives. And as you can see from the photos, kids are operating out of tents or are in dilapidated tin sheds as classrooms.
This school has nearly 400 kids in it but only 1 toilet block of 7 toilets.
Of the 4 staff buildings, only 1 was left standing after cyclone Pam partied on.
I am looking for Volunteers to help me and the members of SHaRM to rebuild this school and bring it back to a safe and functioning standard.
So if you are a tradie or very handy, and have the flexibility to take some time off work to ‘Pay it Forward’ for these kids, then please, volunteer your time and skills to give these kids a brighter future.
And your mission is to spend a week working on this project so that we can put smiles back on the faces of these kids.
On arrival in Port Vila, you will be transferred to Island Magic Resort. To keep costs down, we have booked the 2 bedroom/2 bathroom bungalows for people to share.
For 6-7 days, you will be transferred to Manua Centre Primary School by bus. The days would start around 8am and end around 4pm.
As Vanuatu is a third world county, the nearest medic or doctor is an hour away and as the school will be a construction site, best kids under 15 years old stay at either the resort or home.
When: to be confirmed but thinking 17th March to 25th March.
Where: Accommodation at Island Magic Resort, the rate will include breakfast. The resort is supporting SHaRM by offering 1500 vatu dinner meals (roughly $17)
Meals: breakfast will be included in your room rate and lunch while working at Manua school. Plus a couple of BBQ’s at my Holiday Home and I reckon a couple of arvo’s at the Beach Bar for a cocktail or 2.

What to bring: Some old clothes where it doesn’t matter if they get ruined.
Ok, so I know you want to Pay it Forward and share your skills for the greater good of all but let’s face it, there’s gotta be more to it than that.
Well, by joining the tour, you will get to hang out with a bunch of other Real Wealth Australia clients in which after this experience, will have you making new friends!
Plus you get to hang out with Ed and I and we can talk property all you like. We’d also like to give you a local experience by hanging out at our place for a couple of BBQ’s, and depending on time, show you a couple of our favourite places on the island.
This Mission (which I hope you choose to accept), is dear to my heart and I know that as a community, we can make a big difference while hanging out and having heaps of fun along the way.
